About Perennial Business Consulting

Family businesses and organizations that feel like family often result in uniquely interconnected relationships, history, and loyalty. When it works, your business can thrive. But more often than not, the professional and personal become muddled and complex challenges take over.

Led by Adam Tucker, Perennial Business Consulting works with business owners and their teams to navigate the human side of business, particularly when longstanding relationships, family dynamics, personality differences, leadership transitions, or unresolved tensions are affecting the organization.

Our approach is practical, thoughtful, and deeply people-centred. We help clients step back from the day-to-day, understand what is truly driving their business challenges, and create clarity for how to move forward. We’ll work alongside you to provide the level of support you need throughout our engagement.

We work best with businesses that...

  • Have 5–15 employees

  • Are experiencing growth challenges

  • Feel stuck or overwhelmed

  • Have recurring operational issues

  • Need accountability

  • Want honest feedback

  • Are open to collaboration and change

Our goal is not just to resolve the immediate conflict or challenge before you. It's to create stronger systems, healthier relationships, and more effective practices that support both organizational success and a better work-life balance. This approach helps ensure your business and your people are equipped to thrive well into the future.

For over 22 years, I was part of my family’s business. To be honest, I had planned to stay in the family business until I was ready to retire, and maybe even pass it down to my children one day.

After university, I worked with my father in the business for a few years, and eventually, my younger brother joined the team. At the time, I think we all thought we had a good thing going — we were business partners.

But ultimately, we were still brothers, still father and sons, and the family dynamics crept into the day-to-day business operations. Family issues exacerbated work issues and vice versa; it was a never-ending cycle.

I needed change, so I tried to address our challenges head-on. But looking back, I can see we didn’t have a collective understanding of our problems, as a business or as a family. My attempts to implement structural change came too late, but this experience was far from a failure.

I learned to listen, to navigate hard meetings, and how to hold space for everyone’s concerns. I learned how to redirect when tensions rise and when to shut down harmful behaviours. Most notably, I learned firsthand how a successful company can struggle when communication, accountability, and leadership alignment break down.

Now, I am a Fractional COO and Family Business Development Advisor who helps small businesses create structure, improve communication, and scale sustainably. I want to help you avoid these same pitfalls by addressing challenges early, strengthening relationships, and building systems that allow both your business and your people to thrive.
